A GROUP of motorcyclists who provide a free out-of-hours courier service for hospitals in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire received a £360 donation from a Cirencester dance club last week.
Corinium Squares, a modern American square dance club, made the donation to the Severn Freewheelers during a presentation at the New Brewery Arts centre last Friday.
Dance caller Peter Wright said the club was committed to fundraising. “We adopt a different charity each year and raise money at our dances,” he said. “My granddaughter had been involved with the Freewheelers and it seemed like a particularly worthy cause.”
The volunteer motorcyclists carry anything from blood to x-rays and patient notes between hospitals in the area.
The presentation included live dance demonstrations by eight of the club’s members. Corinium Squares, which is one of the largest clubs in the area, recently celebrated its 21st anniversary. For more information, visit www.coriniumsquares.co.uk.
