Crime round-up

A SHED burnt down in Kemble Drive, Chesterton, Cirencester last night. Firefighters armed with breathing equipment extinguished the blaze just after 11pm. No one was injured.

A CIRENCESTER man is due to appear in court tomorrow over two charges of burglary. Casey Goble, 35, of Melmore Gardens, Cirencester, is due for sentencing at Taunton Crown Court tomorrow morning. For the full story see next week's Standard.

TWO women were caught shoplifting in Tesco by police in separate incidents this week. A 20-year-old Cirencester woman was given a police caution after stealing around £20 of groceries from Kingsmeadow Tesco in Cirencester and a 28-year-old woman from Tetbury was given an £80 fine for stealing £17 of groverise from Tetbury Tesco.

VANDALS kicked in the front door of a house on Masefield Road, Cirencester but did not steal anything and are not thought to have entered the house. The occupant, who was in bed at the time, alerted police the next morning.

OFFICERS who were called to The Rock nightclub, Cirencester, to investigate an alleged assault arrested an 18-year-old Cirencester man who was being abusive towards them. The teenager was fined £80 for the public order offence. A 19-year-old Cirencester man was also arrested for assaulting another 18-year-old Cirencester man and has been released on police bail while investigations continue.

THIEVES made off with £800 of copper wiring from a lightning conductor on a farm in Sapperton sometime since August. A workman noticed the theft this weekend and alerted police. The thieves also caused £700 damage to the fence.

THREE premises were vandalised at the Hampton Street Industrial Estate in Tetbury overnight on Monday. A window was smashed at one and two others had damage to the doors but the offenders did not gain entry.

The individual(s) who thought it would be a laugh to distroy the shead have also distroyed my childrens summer toys and other items. There have been numerous fires in Chesterton over the past few months and having this happen just goes to show the stupidity of those involved. My childrens bedroom faces the garden, I hope that who ever is involved in these fires gets caught soon because the next fire could take a life.
