NEW classes, international dressage judges, Horse of the Year qualifiers and prizes galore for riders, horses, sheep and pets are all part of the bigger and better Cotswold Hunt and Farmers' Show to be held at the Kennels, in Andoversford, on Sunday, August 19.
A great day out for all the family, the show combines a huge selection of pony and horse competitions, terrier and lurcher racing, country pursuits, farm animals and shopping.
New for this year is a dressage tuition class judged by top international rider Spencer Wilson who has won more than ten national titles including Grand Prix in Saumur.
This year boasts a new and improved dog show with terrier and lurcher racing and showing available to all, large, small, young and old - as long as the competitors have four legs with superb prizes such as an embroidered champion dog coat. Family pets are welcome.
Other new events include a scarecrow competition, gundog scurry and the best shod horse awards. Back by popular demand are show classes and exhibitions of Cotswold Sheep and poultry.
Youngsters and their ponies try some of the junior events included leading rein and fancy dress. There are also classes for expert riders ranging from showing to jumping, classes for sport horses and retrained racehorses.
Summer snacking and shopping opportunities are plentiful at a range of trade stands.
The Cotswold Hunt and Farmers Show is a great setting to qualify for a place at the Horse of Year Show for Ladies Hunter, Small Hunter and Working Hunter with prizes up to £60.
The events, many of which have generous prize money and trophies for the winners, will take place in several different rings starting from 9am.
The Cotswold Hunt and Farmers' Show is a great family day out with lots of activities for spectators, pets and riders of all standards, sizes, ages and abilities. It was first held in 1948, and is one of the oldest hunt supporting events in Gloucestershire.
Entry is £5 per car.
The show is run in support of the Cotswold Hunt in the stunning Cotswold countryside.
