A MUSIC club in Cirencester continues to hit the right note as it prepares to welcome award-winning singer-songwriter Emily Barker as its latest headline act.

Emily, who first made her name in the UK on John Peel’s Radio 1 show and later  performed at the London Olympics opening ceremony in 2012 alongside Frank Turner, will top the bill at the next Underground Music Club event at the town’s Kings Head Hotel in Cirencester on Thursday, April 26.

The event, which is hosted in conjunction with GloveboxLive, was launched at the hotel last month and is set to welcome a wide and diverse range of musical talent in the atmospheric surroundings of its Vaulted Cellar throughout the year.

Following the release of her 10th studio album, Sweet Kind of Blue last year, Emily was named UK Artist of the Year 2018 at the recent UK Americana Awards.

She is also well-known as the award-winning writer and performer of the theme song for the TV drama, Wallander, starring Kenneth Branagh.

Cheryl Webber, sales and marketing manager at the Kings Head Hotel, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming the award-winning Emily Barker to headline our upcoming music club night. The event is set to host a varied range of artists over the coming months and Emily is fantastic addition to the bill. We’re sure she will prove incredibly popular with music lovers."

The event takes place on Thursday, April 26. Doors open at 7.30pm with the performance starting at 8pm. Tickets cost £10 in advance or £12 on the door.
