THE Dolphins Dramatic Society presents Abigail's Party by Mike Leigh at The Dolphins Hall in Tetbury from April 12-14.

British suburbanites Laurence and Beverly are entertaining their new neighbours, Angela, a nurse and Tony her computer-operator husband as well as Susan, whose teenage daughter, Abigail is having a party. Over drinks and snacks, clichés and fatuous small talk abound.

The tension escalates as the marital strain between Beverly and Laurence surfaces. Susan's anxiety over Abigail's party accelerates as rock music and God-knows-what permeate the room.

Laurence also grows increasingly irritated by Tony; Tony becomes increasingly friendly with Beverly; Sue becomes more worried about Abigail.

Angela remains oblivious to the growing tensions. Everyone gets progressively drunk and as Beverly and Angela offer some supremely tactless remarks, reality breaks through the smugness.

See Abigail's Party at The Dolphins Hall, New Church Street, Tetbury GL8 8DS from April 12-14. 7.30pm. Tickets available from Tetbury Hardware or online dolphinsdrama.uk.£8 adults, £7 concessions.
