  • ‘BRONZE in the Bronze Age: What was it for?’; an evening lecture with Rachel Crellin is at 7-8.30pm in the Corinium Museum. Combining experimental work with metal weapons and tools, with analyses of prehistoric axes, swords and spears, we will begin to consider the changing uses and meanings of bronze. Cirencester

  • CIRENCESTER Arts Society has an eclectic exhibition in the Corinium Museum, showcasing work in a variety of media and diverse subject areas. Admission is free and all work is for sale. The exhibition finishes on Sunday.

Tetbury

  • IN THE Goods Shed at 4pm, Dr Natasha Loges of the Royal College of Music explains the fascinating ways in which Schubert’s handling of music and poetry provided a model for Schumann’s most beloved song-cycle, Dichterliebe – a cycle composed in the fevered social and political climate of 1840s Germany. Tickets are £5.

Saturday, Sept 30

Bibury

  • THE Classic Car Motor Hub drive-in hosts the classic love story Casablanca. Gates open at 7.30pmto allow browsing through their show rooms, before the film starts at 8.30pm. Dogs and children are welcome and treats and drinks will be on sale.

Minety

  • MINETY Art Club will be holding its annual exhibition and sale of work from 10am-5pm in the village hall. There will be ‘work in progress’ tables with members in attendance to answer questions and show some ‘tricks of the trade.’ Refreshments will also be available and pictures for sale.

Tetbury

  • PROFESSOR Iain Fenlon comes to the Goods Shed at 4pm to bring to life the extravagant city that was Venice in the Renaissance and in particular the way in which new forms of music expressed the mood of the time. Tickets are £5.

Bibury

  • COFFEE and Classics morning at The Classic Motor Hub from 9am-12.30pm. Enjoy the classics over a bacon roll and cup of coffee.

Quenington

  • THE last car boot sale for this year in Quenington starts at 11am on the village green. The cost is £5 per car and all proceeds go to local charities.

Tetbury

  • ​JONATHAN Cohen and the Arcangelo Choir bring home the Tetbury Music Festival at 5pm in St Mary’s Church.

Wednesday, Oct 4

Cirencester

  • CHESTERTON Community Project are holding their AGM at 7.30pm in St Lawrence Hall on Countess Lilias Road, with guest speakers from the town council, the police and the RAU. All are welcome to raise issues; it’s not a political meeting, it’s a public meeting.
