FOLLOWING a sold-out run at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, The O.S. Map Fan Club will be performed as part of the Stroud Theatre Festival at the Subscription Rooms from September 29.

The O.S. Map Fan Club is a solo, comedy show written and performed by Ordnance Survey enthusiast Helen Wood, and is a humorous exploration of the much loved, fold-out, paper map.

In this fast-paced, entertaining show Helen leads the audience on a virtual ramble using sheet 168 Explorer Map of Stroud, Tetbury and Malmesbury.

Along the way she weaves together fascinating facts about locations, maps and rambling with amusing autobiographical stories and sketches.

Helen is determined that by the end of the show all audience members will be card-carrying, badge wearing O.S. map fanatics.

Helen has also been invited to perform in October at the Ordnance Survey’s headquarters in Southampton, for staff and members of the public, to celebrate National Map Reading Week.

The O.S. Map Fan Club is script-edited and directed by Stroud’s own comedy coach, Chris Head, who has over 25 years experience in the comedy business.

  •  See The O.S. Map Fan Club in George Room, Sub Rooms, Stroud on Friday, September 29 (6.30pm), Saturday, September 30 (1.30pm) and Sunday, October 1 (6pm).
