PART art-folk song, part minimalist chamber music, the unique five-piece ensemble Firefly Burning is coming to Under the Edge Arts, Chipping Hall in Wotton Under Edge, this Saturday from 8pm.

Hailing from North East London, the group brings together eclectic tastes and a background in free improvisation. Their music encompasses strings, piano, synthesizer, electric guitar and gamelan, but is centred on close vocal harmonies.

They have been favourably compared to a range of artists from Kate Bush, to the Beach Boys and Joni Mitchell.

The release of their second album Skeleton Hill in 2015 garnered critical success for its rich tapestry and originality. Borne out of a two-year collaboration with legendary producer Tim Friese-Greene (Talk Talk), the album unites their adventurous poetic spirit with a direct, pop sensibility.

They will be recording their third album later this year.

Tickets are £9 with £7 concessions, from utea.org.uk or from the Fish Out Of Water gallery in Wotton.
