A GIFFORDS storm is brewing, as the much-loved Cotswold circus is back in Stratton Meadows today with their 2017 show ‘Any Port in a Storm.’
The baroque-themed show has been inspired by the paintings of Diego Velasquez and is set in the 17th Century Spanish court of King Philip IV.
The company present a thrilling, candle-lit, gymnastic show with dancing horses, a live band and of course the king of misrule Tweedy the clown.
The formality and strict etiquette of the court is established through a series of equestrian and gymnastic vignettes, before in the second half, Tweedy corrupts the court order.
Giffords is in Cirencester until September 18. Tickets start from £15 per adult. See giffordscircus.com for details and times.
