THE Nest Presents is being launched next Monday, July 24 at the Vaults, Cirencester, with the first of a series of folk and Americana shows curated by Gloucestershire duo The Black Feathers.

During their own extensive travel around the UK and the US, The Black Feathers becaome concerned about the lack of touring acts visiting their hometown. Now, the pair are working to entice some of the top-class musicians they’ve met across the globe to come and play in the heart of the Cotswolds.

The first act to take their stage is Alabama-born Hannah Aldridge, daughter of Muscle Shoals’ legend Walt Aldridge.

Although Hannah is very much a chip off the old block in talent, she is carving her own identity and style. Her second album, Gold Rush, was released last month. Mixing her personal life and the sounds of her hometown, Hannah’s songs draw on a range of influences from across the rock genre.

The American South is where writers go to face their fears and Hannah Aldridge doesn’t just dip her pen into the well of the South, she embodies it. With every song, she’s facing down the demons of her past; from substance abuse to failed relationships and scars from the lashes of the Bible belt. As she says herself: “I was born in a crossfire.”

The Vaults is a 15th-century farmhouse, which has recently been renovated, on The Golden Farm at the edge of Cirencester. The Black Feathers hope that the event held there next Monday will be the first of many truly memorable evenings.

Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are £7. Visit thenestpresents.com for more information.
