REVIEW by Natalie Button: Dirty Dancing
THOSE people who came to see Dirty Dancing at The Bristol Hipppodome expecting to see the lead male cast to have the swagger and panache of the late Patrick Swayze were not disappointed, as the lead character Johnny took the audience by the hand and swayed, rocked and danced us through a fantastic evening of entertainment.
Thankfully for ‘Johnny’ the rest of the cast more than lived up to his standards including Baby, as of course, nobody puts Baby in the corner!
The show's sound, lighting and effects were so good that during the rain scene you would believe you were in the river with the cast.
Away from the leading roles the support cast were not to be outdone and showed this with excellent vocals during the show's songs.
The finale was built up with a surprise from Johnny, leading to the famous lift scene, leaving the audience on their feet and applause echoing around the auditorium.
