TWO of Shakespeare's most popular plays, performed by the actor musicians of the vibrant and compelling Watermill Theatre, are coming to The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham in July.

Now in its 50th year, The Watermill Theatre has become known around the world for its bold, irreverent style of presenting Shakespeare productions.

Romeo & Juliet on July 5 and 8 is a tale of young lovers risking everything to defy their feuding families. This is a powerful and explosive staging of Shakespeare’s immortal tale of an all-consuming love.

It features music by Mumford and Sons, The Vaccines, The Civil Wars, Hozier and Johnny Flynn, performed live by this talented cast.

Twelfth Night on July 4, 6 and 7, is a tale of mistaken identities, seduction and transformation.

Re-imagined and set in the Jazz era of the 1920s, where prohibition is rife and Europe is still reeling in the wake of the First World War, this promises to be a compelling version of Shakespeare’s play.

With a score featuring music by Duke Ellington, Django Reinhardt, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, this innovative and exciting production has already received great reviews.
