A TIME machine will be arriving at The Subscription Rooms in Stroud this Friday ready to transport Elvis across the decades to sing some of the most celebrated songs from across the decades.

Josef Reeve, who is renowned for his entertaining depiction of “The King” will be joined on Friday, May 19 by some of Gloucestershire’s most popular and talented to musicians and entertainers to create what promises to be a spectacular show at the town’s biggest venue.

The evening came to fruition after Joe appeared as Elvis with Nick Buckle at the Stroud Valley Artspace and performed a special version of Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)” to commemorate Pete Burns.

The song was such a success with the 100 strong audience that Nick and Joe decided to explore what other songs they could cover, with Joe remaining in his popular Elvis character.

Now, six months on, the evening will include over a dozen musicians and performers coming together from bands such as Thee Ones to form “The Sun Dogs”, “The Suspicious B*astards” which features Ed Butcher from Chinese Burn as well as other noted musicians who will help “Elvis” to sing some punk classics and Stroud DJs “Stroud Calling” who will bring the set to a close with some more modern tunes for “The King” to perform.

Joe Reeve said: “I’ve been performing as Elvis for many years now, all over the country, but this new show is a great departure from my set list. Although there will be some of Elvis’s greatest hits amongst the tunes I perform on the night I will also be covering some Frankie Goes to Hollywood tracks as well as hits from Kate Bush, and of course The Clash and The Sex Pistols.

"It’s so great to see the evening coming to fruition and it’s in no small part to the creativity and talent of the musicians and performers involved.”

The show will be a celebration of Elvis and some great bands from across the decades, but will also include Boss Morris as a Stroud version of “Pan’s People” and an incredible time machine appropriately shaped like a jukebox controlled by entertainer Johnny Byford.
