CIRENCESTER'S popular monthly music event Brewery Blues has found a new home, at Cirencester Rugby Club, and will re-launch on Friday, April 7.

Brewery Blues has built up a loyal following over many years and is renowned for bringing a good mix of new and established artists to a Cirencester audience.

Promoter John Drummond is excited with the choice of new home for the club. He said: " It’s a bigger, more suitable venue than our previous home at the Kings Head, and I’m really hopeful it will work well for us, especially since the other main live music venue in Cirencester ‘The Vaults’ has now ceased.

"The new venue offers free parking right outside, a well stocked bar of reasonably priced drinks, food and a warm club-type atmosphere.

"The line-up for this date has yet to be finalised, but it will be of the usual high standard of entertainment upon which Brewery Blues has built its reputation. Thereafter Brewery Blues will be held monthly on a mid-month Friday."

Brewery Blues has provided a launch-pad for many young aspiring artists who have gone on to become recognised music industry professionals.

John explained: "George Montague (who will be doing a guest spot for us at the launch), Ben Maggs, The Black Feathers, Katie Brooks, The Curious Little Big Band spring immediately to mind, but there are countless other nationally renowned bands and artists who grace our shows, such as the punk dandy Tensheds, blues bombshell Rebecca Downes and famous local duo Ethemia”.

He added: "Our format of having three acts per show seems to work well. This allows us to add some depth and variety to the bill, and offers our customers excellent value for their entry fee.

“Perhaps the name Brewery Blues can be a little misleading as we cater for many genres of modern day popular music including folk, Americana, soul, jazz, funk, R+B, reggae, indie, rock, Celtic, choral, alternative and yes of course blues”.
