VUE cinema in Stroud have announced an exciting line-up of opera, live theatre and contemporary ballet events to be brought to the big screen throughout 2017.
The series begins on Thursday, March 9, with a screening of the National Theatre Live’s Hedda Gabler, Ibsen’s Norwegian classic.
On March 11, The Metropolitan Opera’s beautiful adaptation of Verdi’s classic La Traviata will be shown.
The Bolshoi are taking on a bold new challenge in performing three works by masters of modern choreography – Hans Van Manen’s Frank Bridge’s Variations, Sol Leon and Paul Lightfoot’s Short Time Together and Alexei Ratmansky’s Russia Seasons which will all be shown on March 19, in the screening of the company’s production, A Contemporary Evening.
March ends with The Metropolitan Opera performing Mozart’s Idomeneo on March 25 before a live screening of The Royal Opera’s production of Madam Butterfly on March 30.
Further events, including productions of plays by the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Ballet and more are planned until August.
