SCANDINAVIAN-born rhythm and blues singer Benjamin Folke Thomas will be visiting The Prince Albert in Stroud on Wednesday, March 1 with his new album titled Copenhagen.
Benjamin was born in Gothenburg during one of the coldest winters in modern record which he sites as inspiration for his obsession for sad, lamenting country folk and Americana songs.
Steeping himself in Leadbelly, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, by the age of 20 he was an accomplished finger-picker, confident performer and songwriter.
Copenhagen is an album full of roots and rhythmic blues set alongside descriptive storytelling and anthemic choruses.
Q Magazine described his “stunning playing, his finger-picking is the best you will ever heard.”
- Catch Benjamin Folke Thomas at the Prince Albert in Stroud on Wednesday, March 1 from 8.30-11pm.
