FOLK award winners Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman will be touring as part of the Rural Arts Touring scheme to villages in Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire this spring, creating new songs about the communities they meet.

Kathryn and Sean are one of the most popular and respected acts on the British Folk scene.

They will be visiting Charfield Memorial Hall on January 27, Minety Village Hall on January 28 and Bishopstone Village Hall on March 24.

Their live performance brings a feeling of inclusivity and informality whilst showcasing a variety of music from old traditional ballads to self-penned 'story songs'.

Performed on guitar and piano, the duo have been recognised as 'Best Duo' at the 2016 & 2013 BBC Folk Awards.

With a story that includes over 20 years of music making with the likes of Seth Lakeman, Cara Dillon, Levellers, Kate Rusby and Show of Hands, Kathryn and Sean have consolidated themselves as pillars of modern British folk.

The couple provide an evening's entertainment for all ages.

Each performance will be preceded by a primary school workshop, creating a new community folk song inspired by the local area.

This series of events is being organised by Pound Arts and supported by Wiltshire Music Connect as part of their county singing strategy, encouraging schools to develop their singing and choirs and supporting opportunities for professional musicians to work with schools in a wide range of musical genres.

Following the three events this spring, there will be another three in the autumn, culminating at The Pound with a special performance showcasing the cycle of local songs created throughout the year.
