CAN you "Whistle a Happy Tune"? Better still…can you sing one? If so, then the Cotswold Players need you for their forthcoming production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King and I.

Thailand will come to Stroud in June 2017 as this classic musical returns to the stage.

Based on Margaret Landon's novel, the original Broadway production premiered in 1951 and continues to delight audiences with its tale of unconventional love in an imperial world.

The 1956 film adaptation, nominated for nine Academy Awards and winning five, starred Deborah Kerr and Yul Brynner.

For this 2017 production, Minchinhampton-based director Claire Howard, who recently directed the company's musical production of Cinderella, is now searching for local singers, actors and dancers to star in the much loved show.

The Players are also keen to find people who are interested in working back stage, whether it’s set-building or design, hair, make up, sound, lighting, costumes or front-of-house duties.

  • To find out more about auditions, and, in order for her to start "Getting to Know You", pop along to the Cotswold Playhouse, Parliament Street, at 7.30pm on Tuesday, November 29 for The King and I information evening, where Claire and her team will provide all you need to become part of this fantastic musical.
