THEATRE West, which champions new writing in the South West, continues its partnership work with the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenahm with a double bill of plays in October.
The Room Upstairs, by Ben Callon, tells the story of Clem and Toby – a couple finding that the roots of their own fertility issues have been planted in the most ancient of soils...
The accompanying short play, Getting There, is a new play by Cheltenham playwright and member of the Everyman’s Writers’ Lab, Miranda Walker.
Miranda’s play is a comedy about middle-aged Sheila, who works in fictional Bury Municipal Offices and tries to convince her hardnosed, career-obsessed boss to authorise a statue of Victoria Wood... Miranda wrote the play in April, the week in which Victoria Wood died as: “It was her work that inspired me to try writing comedy in the first place.”
