  • SPANIEL In The Works theatre company present The Sentence at the Everyman Theatre from 7.45pm. The play is the story of John Scrivener who, in the 16th century was sentenced to death by burning. His crime was to translate the Bible into English. His daughter Joan was sentenced to light the fire. This powerful play explores themes of language and justice looking at the difficulties facing people who dare to challenge authority.
