JOIN with singers from local choirs at St Mary’s Church, Painswick, on Saturday, September 17 for a full day workshop to improve your singing and learn about Bach’s St Matthew Passion.

The day will be led by local singer and vocal coach, Andrew Hopwood and will focus on J.S.Bach’s ‘St Matthew Passion’, widely regarded as one of the pillars of Western sacred music.

Bach’s Passion retells the compelling story of the events leading up to the crucifixion of Jesus and is traditionally performed on Good Friday.

During the day singers will work on various vocal techniques, singing extracts from Bach’s Passion. The workshop will also include a lecture on this beautiful and powerful work from Dr. Warwick Cole who is an authority on J.S. Bach.

The workshop is from 9.30am – 4pm. Price £10 to include lecture and light refreshments (please bring along your own packed lunch). All music will be provided for the day.

The event will be hosted by the Thames Head Singers and the Painswick Singers, who are joining together to perform St Matthew Passion on Good Friday 2017 at St Mary’s Church, Painswick.
