TROUBLE Inn Paradise has been re-cast, following the unfortunate injury of an original cast member, and now re-launches with a new actor - and new plot twists.

The show will be at The Subscription Rooms in Stroud on Friday, September 9 and Saturday, September 10.

Trouble Inn Paradise is a story of love, deception and vermin.

It’s a one-act farce packed with slapstick laughs that promises to be a fun-filled event for young and old.

The style is Commedia dell’Arte; rarely performed in the UK - sixteenth century Italian style that uses half masks covering the eyes, nose and upper lip to create exaggerated, cartoon like characters.

In Trouble Inn Paradise, eight larger-than-life, comic characters take to the stage as three performers whisk deftly in and out of costumes and masks to bring you a bumbling doctor, a stingy old merchant, a bungling braggart, a hapless fool of a waiter, a cockney chef, two hopeless romantics and Salami, a rat.

The story revolves around a clandestine meeting of two fairytale romantics at the dilapidated Inn Paradise.

The meeting rapidly turns sour with the arrival of the restaurant inspector and chaos ensues as guests, rats and dishes are juggled - and even swords are brandished - as the Inn tries to stay afloat and the romantics try to elope.

The plot draws inspiration from Fawlty Towers and Goldoni’s famous Commedia dell’Arte play A Servant of Two Masters (recently re-worked as One Man Two Guvnors in the West End).

Cheryl Parmenter is the artistic director and lead performer/teacher of Learning Through Theatre, a Stroud-based, professional company. Cheryl has been working with Commedia dell’Arte for over 20 years and is a qualified teacher.

Trouble Inn Paradise is devised and performed by Cheryl Parmenter with co-performers Alex Newport, Mark Reid and original cast member Caroline Kelly.
