THE search is on to find a young local dancer to join cast of the David Walliams’ hit shows Gangsta Granny on stage at the Wyvern Theatre this September.

Birmingham Stage Company, the producers of the hit David Walliams’ play, Gangsta Granny, are looking for a local girl dancer, aged 16 or 17, to play the small but important role of a young teenage dance competitor in this show when, as part of its current UK tour, it plays at the Wyvern Theatre from Tuesday, September 27-Saturday, October 1.

The company are looking for a dancer who does not require a performance licence and therefore aged 16 or over by the end of June 2016.

Neal Foster, the show’s director, said: “This small part has been specifically written to create a great opportunity for a young dancer who wants to become professional or who is just starting out in the profession to gain valuable experience on stage with a professional company and receive a fantastic addition to her CV.

"The part requires a solo dance routine in a crucial scene of the play, providing a wonderful showcase for her talents”

Any 16 or 17 year old female dancers interested in being considered should email a demo video of her performing the short show piece to gangstagranny@birminghamstage.com .

The video and audio files are available to view on the Gangsta Granny page of the Swindon Theatres website (swindontheatres.co.uk) and applicants can e-mail laura@wyverntheatre.org.uk to have the files sent directly.

The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, August 15.

The chosen dancer will be sent the video of the two minute dance she will be performing in the show so she can learn the choreography.

She will be expected to perform in all Gangsta Granny performances both those in the daytime and evenings at the Wyvern Theatre and will be paid £21.38 expenses for each show.
