Cirencester

  • JOSH Widdicombe, star of The Last Leg, Mock the Week, QI, Live at the Apollo and Have I Got News For You, will be performing his latest show What Do I Do Now? at the Sundial Theatre. Woodstock

  • COUNTRYFILE Live begins at Blenheim Palace and finishes on Sunday, August 7. The show promises to be the ultimate celebration of rural Britain and offers the chance to see the show’s presenters and meet the animals from Adam Henson’s Cotswolds farm. Other events on the day include talks, a dog show, animal displays, village fete, Cookery Theatre, country sports displays, traditional crafts and more than 600 exhibitors and food and drink. Doors open 9.30am-6pm Thursday-Saturday, 9.30am-5pm Sunday. Dogs welcome, tickets from £28.50 on the day.

Malmesbury

  • MALMESBURY Carnival begins as Athelstan Players’ ‘Carnival Revue’ present Pret-a-Porter. An enjoyable evening of sketches, dances and songs, with a clothing connection. Starts at 7.30pm, St Mary’s Hall, St Mary’s Street. Tickets £6.50/£5.50 from Miles Morgan Travel, Market Cross.

Moreton-in-Marsh

  • EXHIBITION of Henri Matisse works at the John Davies Gallery, GL56 9NQ. Open Monday-Saturday, 9.30am-5pm, runs until August 27.

Cheltenham

  • BEATRIX Potter and The Tailor of Gloucester at the Everyman Theatre continues and runs until Saturday, August 6. Beatrix Potter wrote The Tailor of Gloucester while staying with her cousin in nearby Painswick and it became her personal favourite story. Tickets from £10.   • GLOUCESTERSHIRE Vintage and Country Extravaganza begins and runs all weekend. The show celebrates the best of vintage cars, buses, motorcycles and bicycles, tractors and steam engines and commercial, emergency and military vehicles. South Cerney

  • SOUTH Cerney Annual Show takes place over the weekend featuring 100 classes within seven sections. Flowers, vegetables, photography, cookery, wine, handicrafts, children’s section, homemade cakes, raffle. 2-5pm on Saturday, 11.30am-4.30pm on Sunday. 
  • FREE fishing lessons at Cotswold Water Park with one-to-one tuition from friendly, fully qualified angling coaches. The sessions are suitable for all ages and are aimed at complete beginners. Everything is provided and there will be a chance to learn about the wildlife living in the lakes of the water park.   • COCKERELS on Sticks at the Corinium Museum. One of the collection’s most beautiful objects, a rare second century bronze cockerel went on display in 2014. Use it for inspiration to create a cockerel on a stick to take home. Family drop-in with Jane Bovenizer from 10-11am. £2 per child, £1 for season ticket holders.
