NEXT week there will be a series of fun events for children at the Corinium Museum.

If you’re looking for something to do during the school holidays, make sure you visit.

On Tuesday, August 9 there will be a family drop-in session with Jane Bovenizer from 10-11am. Illuminated letters were pieces of beautiful art and it was often monks or officials of the King’s court that created them. Join Jane and create your own stretchy scribe with quill to take home. Costs £2 per child, £1 for season ticket holders.

On Wednesday, August 10, Jane hosts another session featuring one of the collections most beautiful objects, a bronze cockerel which went on display in 2014. Use it for inspiration to create a cockerel on a stick to take home. This event also costs £2 per child, £1 for season ticket holders and runs from 10-11am.

Later on Wednesday, enjoy an afternoon talk with Emma Stuart from 2.30-3.30pm. She will be discussing the Roman mosaics of the Corinium Museum collection, the sites they came from and what we can learn about Roman life from their discovery. Costs £6.50 per adult, £5.50 for season ticket holders, booking recommended.

Celebrate the start of the Olympics at the Discovery Zone with Heather Dawson on Thursday, August 11, from 11am-12.30pm. Learn and play games and sports from the ancient games and the more recent version. Event is included in admission.
