IT IS just weeks to go until Music Theatre Project’s Company in Cirencester start rehearsals for their summer show West Side Story.

Preparations are already underway for what promises to be a unique theatrical event.

Local stage companies MJUK Music & Arts and StageSmart have united as Music Theatre Project to bring West Side Story to Cirencester audiences.

This classic romantic piece of musical theatre inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is not to be missed.

Music Theatre Project are bringing in a professional team direct from London’s West End.

The team includes Director Kirk Jameson (Seussical the Musical), Choreographer Mark Smith (Chichester festival theatre,London 2012 Paralympic Games, Deaf men Dancing) and Musical Director Issac McCoullough (Les Misérables).

Artistic Director, Maria Jagusz (International Opera singer and founder of MJUK) and Producer Iwan Lewis (West End star and Director of StageSmart) worked togther last year to co-produce ‘The Clockmaker’s Daughter,’ receiving fantastic reviews.

The success of this production spurred them on to officially team up, forming an unparalleled partnership that will ensure a superb production this summer.

MTP aims to showcase the talent of young performers and launch the careers of those looking to embark on a career in the industry.

It is also an opportunity for performers that are new to the industry to improve their craft and meet industry professionals.

They have assembled an impressive cast of talented young performers from all around the country combined with fantastic local talent.

Music Theatre Project have also teamed up and created links with the Royal Agricultural University to accommodate those performers that are travelling from outside of the Cotswolds.

Leading man Daniel Holley (Tony) and leading lady Morgan Cambs (Maria) are both extremely excited to be involved in the project.

Daniel is returning to his home town of Cirencester to take on the dream role of Tony after starring in a recent professional production of Jason Robert Brown’s ‘Parade’ in London.

Morgan, from New York City and currently living in London is really looking forward to getting started on the Show.

She said: “This project is a really exciting and valuable opportunity for me as a young professional. It’s a chance to create work out of the city in a focused, professional and nurturing environment where I can still learn and grow.”

  • A two week intensive course will run from July 30-August 13, culminating in the final shows at The Bingham Hall in Cirencester on August 11, 12 and 13.
