ON BANK Holiday Monday, August 29, Coberley will hold its 2016 Village Fete in the grounds of the Coberley Church of England Primary School, starting at 2pm.

This year there as well as the traditional stalls and fun activities, there will be the additional attraction of a Produce Show.

Pioneer of the Produce Show, Georgina Kedge is extremely enthusiastic about this new venture.

She said: “There has already been a great deal of interest expressed in the community about holding this event and now that interest is turning into entries.

“Rather than just hold a traditional village fete as in past years, I wanted give the event a more rural flavour, appropriate to the environment we live in. I also felt it would provide a focus of popular interest which helps grow the community spirit”.

Entries for the wide range of categories, - from vegetables and flowers to preserves and cakes, from handicrafts to painting and photography, will be welcome from anyone in the parish and beyond.

One of the Coberley Fete and Produce Show organisers, Lindsay Baker added: “We plan to have the Cheltenham Silver Band to entertain visitors and one of our major events will be a multi-class Dog Show.

"We’ll be announcing the full details of the stalls and events taking place a little nearer the time, but for now we are most keen to encourage people to get underway with their entries and start growing or creating their produce.”

All the proceeds from the Fete and Produce Show will go towards the upkeep of St Giles Church, Coberley.
