Bristol

  • THE Mikado continues at the Bristol Hippodrome. Gilbert and Sullivan’s popular opera satirises British society, customs and pretensions through a farcical plot. Runs until Saturday, June 25. Cirencester

  • FLOWER festival at the Parish Church to celebrate 40 years of the Friends of the church. Everyone welcome, free entry, donations appreciated. Runs until Sunday, June 26.

Sherston

  • THERE are a number of events this weekend celebrating the 1000th anniversary of the Battle of Sherston. T-shirt and garment printing at the village hall, 3.30-4.30pm for children and 7-8pm for adults. In the evening there will be a Millennium Boules Competition at the Rattlebone Inn.

Dauntsey

  • MUSIC at Dauntsey is a jazz and classical music fusion festival with performances and a workshop held over two days. The event is designed to get new and young people interested in the genres with world class artists performing. Cirencester

  • A CONCERT in aid of Longfield will be held at the Ashcroft Centre from 7.30pm. Featuring Cirencester Guitar Ensemble, Cirencester Community Choir and The Hammermen.   • THE Fringe Family Day returns to St Michael’s Park from 1-7.30pm, rairsing funds for the Phoenix Festival in August. The one day event has something for everyone to enjoy from live music, trade and food stalls, and a licensed bar to a choice of fun activities for kids.

Stratton

  • THE children of Messy Church will be displaying their work over the last few months in a weekend that celebrates the ‘birthday’ of St Peter’s Church. Drinks, cake and nostalgic events running until 4pm on Sunday afternoon.

Daglingworth

  • TWO gifted musicians will give a recital of eighteenth century music for flute and harpsichord at Daglingworth Church. Flautist Helen Crown, will be joined by David Ponsford on the harpsichord. South Cerney

  • ANN Edwards School’s summer fete. Starts at 1pm in the school grounds. Come along and enjoy traditional family fun including face painting, tombola, fete games, bouncy castle, bbq barbecue and live music from Stuart Elwin and the Ann Edwards School Choir. Everyone is invited to come along.

Sherston

  • CONTINUING the 1000th anniversary of the Battle of Sherston, the village hall will be open from 10.16am with an exhibition from the Athelstan Museum and Jorvik Centre with vintage teas. At the Recreation Ground there will be various events all day including a bar, bbq, barbecue, teas, and Viking Living History displays. At 7.30pm in Holy Cross Church, Tim Bolton will give a lecture titled ‘1016 and all that’. Bibury

  • BIBURY summer fete takes place at Ablington Manor Gardens from 2-5.30pm. Traditional stalls, teas, games, silver band and Morris dancers. Fun for all the family and a rare opportunity to visit the magnificent gardens. Entrance is £2.50 for adults, free for children.

Tetbury

  • THE historic Charter Fair and Music festival returns with a new line up of events.   • GERMANIA at the Sundial Theatre. As part of Cirencester College’s Arts festival, Sundial Theatre Company re-tell Wagner’s famous ring cycle for a young, modern audience-in one hour.
