THE Summer Show of The Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen will take place from Monday, August 15 – Wednesday, August 24.

The original, handcrafted work of over 20 guild members will be on show and for sale or commission.

Continuing The Guild’s commitment to promoting emerging talent, the show will also present a special display of work by 2016 graduates from Hereford College of Arts.

Each day there will be craft skills demonstrations by members with makers themselves present to discuss their craft and inspiration with visitors.

The show will be held in Chipping Campden’s historic Town Hall, confirming the town’s long-standing links with craft and design.

Chipping Campden was one of the centres of the Arts and Crafts Movement in the early 20th century with the arrival in 1902 of the craft workshops of C R Ashbee and the Guild of Handicraft from London’s East End.

Some of Ashbee’s Guildsmen, including the silversmiths, George Hart and Sidney Reeve, were early members of the Gloucestershire Guild together with potter Michael Cardew and stained glass artist, Paul Woodroffe.
