THIS weekend will see Stroud Subscription rooms open their doors for a variety of theatre events for all ages.

An Oscar Wilde double bill runs for two nights on Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18 with Wilde Without the Boy and The Ballad of Reading Gaol.

Wilde Without the Boy is a one-man play dramatizing De Profundis, the bitterly passionate letter Wilde wrote to his lover, Lord Alfred Douglas from his cell in Reading gaol. The Ballad of Reading Gaol is the Irishman’s beautiful poem reflecting on his two years of hard labour, a fellow inmate’s hanging and man’s bestial punishment of man. Tickets are £12, concessions £10, show begins at 8pm.

On Sunday, June 19, The Brothers Grimm provide lighter fun with the hugely entertaining A Pocketful of Grimms.

Recommended for children aged 4+, a magical storylteller whisks you away to a land of wonder to explore some of the most well-loved fairy tales ever told including Hansel & Gretel, Rumplestiltskin, Beauty and the Beast and many more.

These timeless stories are brought to life with a combination of physical theatre, clowning, puppetry, music and more.
