A SCULPTOR from Bibury will see his work form part of an exhibition at Charingworth Court, Winchcombe.

Joe Inglis, who comes from a family of artists, began sculpting as a hobby, initially using stone to make a deer before exploring the properties of lead.

He is delighted to see his work now receiving recognition.

“It will be amazing to see my pieces alongside all these wonderful sculptures at Charingworth Court.

“It’s very exciting but also slightly daunting to be putting them under public scrutiny.

“I’ve always had that creative urge and felt I should be doing something artistic,” he continued.

“I started with a bit of old lead sheet that I bashed over trees to get the form of the tree. I was slowly filling the garden up with them.

“Working with lead is great, it’s like painting with a blow torch. It’s such an amazing metal because it’s so malleable, you can bash it around and heat it up to make it melt and then you get a different texture, and you can oil some parts and not others so they weather differently.

“I’ve been suppressing my artistic side for 20 years but it’s always been there, now it’s come to the surface.”
