South Cerney

  • SOUTH Cerney Players production of Darkness Falls opens. The performance is a double bill of supernatural tales starting with ‘The Monkey’s Paw.’ Adapted from the classic story by W.W. Jacobs, a working-class family is granted three wishes, all of which come true but in a macabre and unexpected ways. In ‘The Dark,’ a successful novelist who has committed himself wholeheartedly to furthering his career meets his Mephistopheles. There will be a bar open before and at the interval. Kemble

  • THE local branch of the Kemble and District Royal British Legion women's section will be marking the Queen's 90th birthday tea in the village hall. The guest speaker will be Stephen Lambert-Humble who has led a fascinating life including on the Royal Yacht Britannia. Visitors welcome, call Pat on 770385 for more information. The event begins at 2.30pm.

Lechlade

  • GUY Fisherman will play a classical music concert. Direct from Boston’s Handel & Haydn Society, the oldest orchestra in the USA, Guy will play two of Bach’s solo cello suites. The performance takes place at 12pm, St Lawrence Church. Admission, wine and refreshments are free with donations to the Church restoration appeal encouraged.

Malmesbury

  • MUSIC in Country Churches will be bringing a weekend of classical music to Malmesbury Abbey. From Mozart, Strauss and Brahms to Holst and Elgar the three concerts feature The Nash Ensemble, Dame Emme Kirkby and the English Chamber Orchestra and will be held over two days. For more information call the box office on 01603 628319.

Cirencester

  • THERE will be a plant sale outside the Parish Church in support of Phoenix Gardeners. There will be a wide variety of plants, shrubs and vegetables for sale from 10am-12.30pm.

Coates

  • COATES Gardening Club will be holding its annual plant sale at the village hall. Coffee and homemade cakes will also be available.

  • FUN Run in Northleach. Registration opens at 9am in the primary school for a 3km run at 10am and a 10km run at 11am. Bring your friends and family as the Friends of Northleach Swimming Pool will be selling refreshments from 9am-11.30am and running a barbecue with snacks and soft drinks from 11.30am-1.30pm. Parking available at the Market Place and behind the Fire Station, no parking at the school.
