  • CAFE at the village hall takes place from 12pm-2pm with homemade soups and bread, delicious home baked cakes, fresh coffee and speciality teas in a friendly atmosphere.

Friday, May 13
Cirencester

  • BEN Maggs at the Brewery Blues. Head to the Kings Head cellar lounge from 7.45-11.30pm to see Ben Maggs as he return to his native Cotswolds for the first time in more than a year. Following his last appearance at Brewery Blues, Ben has embarked on a whirlwind musical adventure. Also playing on this night will be Pneuma, a soul funk band from Leeds and talented indie/folk singer-songwriter Emi McDade. Advance tickets, £10, concessions/students £9, are available from reception at the Kings Head or by calling 01285 700900, otherwise £12/£10 on the night.

Sherston

  • SIR Francis Richards will give a talk about Bletchley Park and the work of the World war II codebreakers at 6.30pm in the village hall. Tickets are £12.50, to include a glass of wine and are available from Sherston Post Office.

Kemble

Poole Keynes

  • KEITH Hyett, is returning to Poole Keynes with a new set of his guitar tunes. Keith’s music takes his inspiration from poetry and nature found locally, from a walk through a forest on a moonlight night to the view from a tower on the Cotswold edge. His show starts at 7.30pm in Poole Keynes village hall. Tickets, £6, are available on the door or by emailing keith.hyett@btinternet.com.

Stroud

  • A WHIP-crackin’ horse-wranglin’ Hell-raisin’ Giffords Circus show is taking place at Fennells Farm. Featuring the Giffords Circus gang, cowgirl Lilian Konyot, Madame Nancy Trotter-Landry, rodeo rider Dan Fortt, jugglers Bibi and Bichu, El Gifford and Tweedy the clown. This wild west extravaganza runs until Monday, May 16, at various times. Tickets are £22, and for more information visit everymantheatre.org.uk.

Charlton Kings

Chedworth

Dursley

Cheltenham

  • A CAR boot sale takes place at the National Star Grounds, GL53 9QU from 9am-1pm.

Cirencester

  • THERE will be a town walk around historic Cirencester every Sunday and Bank Holiday until September. Meet at the Church porch in the Market Place at 3pm, lasts 70minutes, £2 adults/concessions free. Suitable for children and disabled.

Kemble

  • CELEBRATE the Queen's 90th birthday with a bring and share Royal Tea Party. Bring a plate of suitable food to The Tavern Pub grounds at 2.30pm. The pub will be open for the sale of drinks, etc, and JJ Swingband will be playing. At 2.45pm a Royal parade takes place, including the Queen of Hearts, children in red, white and blue and crowns, horses, Corgi dogs and Lady She, classic cars, puppet show, and a loyal toast plus cutting of birthday cake. There is also a presentation of royal souvenirs to Kemble and Ewen children up to 11. This will be an afternoon to chill and catch up with villagers whilst listening to the band and enjoying a unique royal occasion. 

Siddington

  • Quiz at the Village Hall. Doors open 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets are still available at Siddington Stores or from siddingtonvillagehall.co.uk at £5 per person (£6 on the door). There will be a licensed bar and raffle with a cash prize for the winning team.

Monday, May 16
Kemble

  • THE Coffee Stop will be open at the village hall, 10-11.30am serving a variety of hot drinks, all £1 each, refills free, biscuits/cake. Exchange books/garden produce/seeds, etc, or just donate to whoever would like.
  • Rural cinema presents Bridge of Spies starring Tom Hanks at the village hall. Doors open at 7.30pm for 8pm start. Hot and cold refreshments available, tickets £3.50.

Tuesday, May 17
Cirencester

  • CIRENCESTER Operatic Society are performing the musical Jekyll & Hyde at the recently refurbished Barn Theatre from Monday, May 16, until Saturday, May 21. The musical thriller, based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel, stars David Emms, Sarah Kilmister and Becci Smith. Tickets, at £10, are available from Cirencester visitor information centre or by calling 01285 654180.

Bibury

  • THERE will be a big brunch for Christian Aid week with bacon and sausage butties plus delicious homemade cakes and lashings of hot tea and coffee from 11am-1pm at the Baptist Church on Arlington Green. Suggested donation of £3ppn, there will also be a homemade stall, all welcome.

Swindon

  • FAGIN'S Twist at the Wyvern Theatre. A radical adaptation on Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist, this production takes the classic piece of literature as its starting point and presents an evocative story of Fagin’s youth, corrupted by greed and worn down by poverty. The performance features five familiar characters, Oliver, Fagin, Bill Sykes, Nancy and the Artful Dodger, but reimagines the paths of their lives and their individual circumstances. Starts at 7.30pm, tickets £15, concessions £12, students £7.50.
