CIRENCESTER Operatic Society are performing the musical, Jekyll & Hyde, in the newly refurbished Barn Theatre in Cirencester from May 17 to 21.

Jekyll & Hyde is a musical thriller based on the novel The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson.

The cast is led by David Emms who was seen twice last year at The Barn Theatre in Anything Goes and Company.

He is supported by a stellar cast but in particular, the two love interests played by Sarah Kilmister and Becci Smith.

The story is intense and the music stirring. Best known song “This is the moment” has been covered over 1,000 times, sung twice at the Olympics and at George W Bush’s US Presidential Inauguration.

There are also two well-known ensemble numbers, 'Façade’ and ‘Murder’ and beautiful melodies such as ‘In his eyes’ and ‘Someone like you’.

The musical is being directed by seasoned director Barry Austin, who last year produced Avenue Q, Anything Goes and Company at The Barn.

Alongside Barry is musical director Richard Abrams who throughout the show will be in the new orchestra pit underneath the stage.

The Barn Theatre is undergoing an extensive refurbishment programme which, at the time of these performances, will only be half way through. Those coming to Jekyll & Hyde will sit on new audience seating and be using the new toilets.

The performance will also benefit from a new PA system and new lighting.

A new Foyer Bar and new dressing room facilities will be available later this year.
