VONNIES bring two great musicians Stevie Nimmo and Ben Poole to Charlton Kings Club on Wednesday, May 11 in a blues double header.

Dave Jones of Vonnies said: “This is the first double header of the season following sold out shows so far."

Stevie and Ben arrive at Vonnies in blaze of great reviews, both having released albums in 2016 to critical acclaim, and will split the show between them.

Ben Poole is being talked of as the new up-and-coming UK blues guitarist and at just 27 years of age has already played with and received critical acclaim from some of his heroes, legendary blues artists including Jeff Beck, Gary Moore and John Mayall.

Dave added: "With fire in his fingers Ben is a talented newcomer to the British blues scene. His playing may be ferocious but he rarely sacrifices precision and I am looking forward to this his first visit to Vonnies.”

Stevie Nimmo, singer-songwriter and Nimmo Brothers co-frontman with his brother Alan have for almost 20 years, been successfully touring the UK, Europe, and America.

His voice is at times gritty, other times emotional but all times perfection.

Born and raised in Glasgow Stevie never had a guitar or singing lesson growing up, but throughout his family there were plenty of musical people to learn from.

After being diagnosed with cancer in 2009, and subsequent surgery resulting in the loss of his voice for over two months, Stevie was forced to ease on touring and spend time recovering.

In 2010 however, he bounced back with a new album and has launched into touring and performing like never before.

Dave says “I am delighted to welcome Stevie Back after his knock out performance at Vonnies with his brother Allan before his illness.“

This year all proceeds will be donated to a new charity “Lifting The Blues” helping the loved ones of those suffering from mental illness and destigmatising mental illness within communities.
