The Tavern, Cheltenham’s only restaurant to be awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand, has created a new programme of events to run every weekend throughout the summer.

The Tavern wants to offer more than just a place for guests to eat and drink and hope their new programme will encourage guests to drop in for drinks and stay until late, partying the night away.

The weekend begins on Friday evening when you can pop in to ‘Tavern Taster Fridays’ from 6pm-7pm throughout May.

Come along for drinks and enjoy complimentary mini tasters from the weekly changing menu curated by Head Chef James de Jong. 

Continue the night by dining at the Chef’s Table, £35 per person, where James will take guests on a journey of traditional British cuisine with all the quirks and character of The Tavern. 

Late night sessions will be held every Friday and Saturday night, promising good times and a lively atmosphere, sound tracked with live music whilst guests enjoy supper or drinks at the bar. 

Guests are encouraged to check The Tavern’s social media for one-off live performances which take place from 10.30pm until late. 

The Tavern is also the perfect host for parties with group bookings accommodated for up to 35 people – enjoy food from the Feasting Menu and party with friends and family into the early hours.

Sundays at The Tavern are made for sharing. 

In line with their ‘purveyors of food, drink and good times’ philosophy, there is a strong focus on sharing plates, encouraging a familiar atmosphere where friends and family can come together over food. 

James’ British ingredients led menu focuses on a nose to tail ethos using locally sourced ingredients including pork and lamb from Burleigh Fields in Leckhampton.

For a traditional lunch, choose from naturally reared Cotswold white whole chicken, 40-day aged rib of beef or slow cooked lamb shoulder then carve and serve for the whole table to enjoy (prices start at £32). 

For those who just want to drop in at the bar, a large selection of craft beers, wines from around the world and an inventive cocktail list are also available.
