As part of the Guiting music festival, there will be various concerts held over the following week at Chedworth village hall.

On Saturday, April 23, Chedworth silver band will launch a series of ‘outreach concerts’ commencing with a St George’s Day concert.

The performance has become a regular feature of the band’s season and is coming to Chedworth for the first time.

The format consists of solo items among a varied program of classic popular music from the eighteenth century to Lady Gaga, from Strauss to Glen Miller however 80 per cent of the program is new for this year and several arrangements will have their first public performance at this concert.

The final items are sing along items for which song sheets will be available, Land of Hope and Glory and others from the Last Night of the Proms and wartime favourites ending with “We’ll meet again!” and of course the National Anthem.

On Friday, April 29, classical music lovers are invited to a concert by the Behn Quartet, Kate Oswin and Alicia Berendse, violins, Lydia Abell, viola, and Ghislaine McMullin, violoncello. This talented young group from the Royal Academy of Music, who come highly recommended by festival President, Joanna MacGregor, will perform a programme of Schubert, Beethoven and Ravel.
