Beatrix Potter and the Tailor of Gloucester is a brand new family musical based on the famous story of the old tailor, his cat and the mice.

The production, which will be staged by the Everyman Theatre from August 3-6, celebrates the 150th birthday of author Beatrix Potter.

The leading parts will be played by professional performers but writer and director Paul Milton is calling for local adult actors and singers to be part of the show.

Auditions will be held at the Everyman Theatre on Monday, April 25.

Paul said: “We are really excited about this production and already our designers have been hard at work creating amazing costumes and sets.

“We would love to get local performers, with varying degrees of acting or singing experience, to get involved.”

The show is being adapted and directed by the Everyman’s Creative Director Paul Milton.  Original music is being composed by Peter Banks, and the Ensemble Singers will be led by Caroline Mander, who runs the Everyman’s Everyvoice choirs.

Paul is looking for singers as well as people aged over 16 to play friends of Beatrix Potter; the Mayor’s fiancée; the baker; the blacksmith and the bell-ringer among others.
