JOHN Steinbeck's classic Of Mice and Men will be brought to life at The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham from Tuesday, February 23.

A Touring Consortium Theatre Company and Birmingham Repertory Theatre co-production, Of Mice and Men is set in America during the Great Depression.

It tells the story of George and Lennie, two migrant farm workers, who go in search of new beginnings, in the hope of attaining their shared dream: of putting together enough money to buy a small piece of land and building a home.

After a long and exhausting journey, the pair arrive at a farm in California where they seek work.

But they are no strangers to trouble and soon find themselves reeling from the fall out of an innocent misunderstanding which spirals out of control and leaves the two men, bound together by friendship, facing an earth-shattering climax.

Dudley Sutton plays Candy. Dudley is best known for his role in the ITV classic Lovejoy but is also a renowned stage actor who began his career in some of the most iconic plays of the sixties, including Jo Orton's Entertaining Mr Sloane and Tom Murphy's A Whistle In The Dark.

Over the course of his career he has worked with legendary directors including Federico Fellini, Derek Jarman, Sally Potter and Ken Russell.

This production is directed by Roxana Silbert. Liz Ascroft is the designer, Simon Bond is the lighting designer and Nick Powell the composer and sound designer.
