THE British Blues All Stars will be playing at Vonnies blues club in Charlton Kings on February 17.

These legendary blues musicians Dave Kelly, Zoot Money, Garry Fletcher, Pick Withers and Pete Emery have played together in various combinations of twos and threes, but at Vonnies all five will be playing together in the same band.

Zoot Money vocalist and keyboard player has been one of the great names of British R&B scene for half a century. With his Big Roll Band, he became a major draw at venues such as Soho’s Flamingo Club.

British blues legend Dave Kelly is regarded as one of the finest slide guitar players with a terrific blues voice and is a founder member of The Blues Band.

Garry Fletcher has been The Blues Band’s bass player since they formed in 1979.

As well as his vast experience playing the Blues and R&B, David Pick Withers was drummer with Dire Straits for their first four albums.

Pete Emery is a blues guitar player with a rock-solid foundation in the blues.

Dave Jones who runs the club said: “Their collective professional experience amounts to 250 years of playing blues and rock professionally.

"They have played with some of the greats over the years; Howling Wolf, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Dire Straits, Son House, Alexis Korner, The Allman Brothers, Jimmy Witherspoon, The Blues Band, Bob Dylan, The Animals, Nina Simone, Jo-Ann Kelly, Chris Farlowe, Maggie Bell, Ralph McTell, Dave Edmunds, Andy Fairweather -Low, Brinzley Schwartz, Nick Lowe, Bert Jansch, Junior Wells, Freddie King, Del Shannon, Bernie Marsden, Georgie Fame, Alan Price, the list goes on."

Last month's gig featuring Aynsley Lister recorded the highest attendance ever in 12 years.

This year all proceeds will be donated to a new charity “Lifting The Blues” helping the loved ones of those suffering from mental illness and destigmatising mental illness within communities.
