THE line-up for the new season at Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre has been announced featuring everything from comedy to murder mysteries, spy thrillers to classical ballet, there is plenty to entertain.

Starting the new season on January 19 is the Olivier award-winning adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic spy thriller, The 39 Steps. Follow Richard Hannay as he encounters murders, double-crossing secret agents and beautiful women. Returning to the Everyman the production features four actors, playing 139 roles in 100 minutes of fast-paced action.

Also included in the line-up is The Birthday Party, the first major work of playwright Harold Pinter. Set in a shabby boarding in a small English seaside town, the play sees an innocent birthday party turn into deadly game of cat and mouse.

Following a sold-out run in the West End, the critically acclaimed King Charles III arrives at the Everyman at the end of February as part of its national tour. Exploring the people underneath the crowns, the production imagines the future as Prince Charles ascends the throne with Camilla at his side.

There are plenty of productions to keep the children entertained as well, including an adaption of Michael Rosen’s We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, brought to the stage by director Sally Cookson set to a score by Benji Bower. Join the intrepid adventurers on their quest to find a bear.

Geoffrey Rowe, Chief Executive of the Everyman, said: “We are already looking into 2016 and beyond the pantomime.

“We have the return of ever popular shows like The 39 Steps and The Mousetraps; some classic plays like Pinter’s The Birthday Party and Ayckbourn’s Round and Round the Garden and Of Mice and Men.

“Plus West End hits with the royal family portrayed on stage in both Kings Charles III and in Single Spies.

“Shane Richie and Jessie Wallace will star in Peter James’s The Perfect Murder and there is more tension in Dial M for Murder.

“So what with ballet and concerts and children’s shows, there really is something for almost everyone at the Everyman.”
