CIRENCESTER band The Black Feathers have released a Christmas single in aid of UK charity Marie Curie, after a successful crowd-funding campaign resulted in the band being funded by their fans.

All of the profits from the band’s new Christmas single Winter Moves In will be donated to Marie Curie, the charity that helps people coping with terminal illness.

The band duo, Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler, have been touring with their own brand of folk and rock for the past month.

The new single is available on a ‘pay as you want’ basis with the minimum amount being 1p to download.

The duo have decided to let the public decide how much they would like to donate to the charity – removing the standard download fee. All of the proceeds will be donated to the charity.

The duo launched a successful EP last year, Strangers We Meet, and the response to their music has been phenomenal, being shared hundreds of thousands of times across social media.

The band launched a Pledge Music campaign in July to fund their new album, which was successfully funded just four days later.

Band member Sian Chandler said: “We are incredibly honoured to be able to release our Christmas single in aid of Marie Curie.

“After losing somebody close to me this year and watching friends cope with the reality and aftermath of terminal illness, it really feels like the perfect opportunity for us to try and raise money for such a wonderful cause.”.
