THE Eclectic String Band, (formerly Cirencester String Orchestra), will hold their Winter Concert at the Barn Theatre, 5 Beeches Road, Cirencester, GL7 1BN, at 7-30pm on Saturday, December 12.
The concert will feature an eclectic mix of Christmas-themed music for String Orchestra: The Snowman Suite for String Orchestra, the Wizard of Oz, 'Twas the night before Christmas, Christmas Day by Holst (a Fantasy on Traditional Carols), Jingle Bells Hoedown, Leroy Anderson’s Pastores a Belen, excerpts from the Messiah, and Pirates of the Caribbean.
The concert is suitable for both adults and children.
The Eclectic String Band play several concerts a year around the Cotswolds, and their repertoire includes folk and jazz as well as traditional composers from Baroque and Classical eras.
They also enjoy arrangements of show tunes and film themes. Rehearsals are held weekly in Watermoor Church Hall and the orchestra has grown in size to 25 players.
Refreshments will be available after the concert.
The orchestra will be conducted by Ann Theil and the leader is Steve Jones.
