NORTHERN Broadsides Theatre Company bring their production of Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale to the Everyman Theatre; October 27-31.

The tale of reconciliation, love and forgiveness is directed by Northern Broadsides’ Resident Director Conrad Nelson, who also stars in the production, created in partnership with Harrogate Theatre.

The play which appears in Shakespeare’s first folio opens on New Year’s Eve which the characters celebrating the hope of the new year.

Things quickly descend into darkness when seized by sudden, irrational jealousy King Leontes falsely accuses his pregnant Queen of infidelity with his closest friend. Leontes proclaims his newborn daughter illegitimate and condemns her to death. But the child, Perdita survives.

What follows is a love story where the cold hand of winter gives way to the brightness of spring.

This the first time in Northern Broadsides 23-year history that it has staged The Winter’s Tale.
