THE National Theatre Live season continues at The Bacon Theatre, on Thursday, November 5, with Hamlet starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

The Shakespeare classic tells the tale of a country arming itself for war as a family tears itself apart.

Forced to avenge his father’s death but paralysed by the task ahead, Hamlet rages against the impossibility of his predicament, threatening both his sanity and the security of the state.

Academy Award nominee and Sherlock star takes on the lead role in this great tragedy, starring alongside Ciarán Hinds (Games of Thrones, Rome).

Directed by Lyndsey Turner (Posh, Chimerica) and produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, National Theatre Live will broadcast the production live to cinema in October, with the Bacon Theatre hosting a delayed screening.

The Bacon Theatre’s Jess Waterman said; “Benedict Cumberbatch’s Hamlet at the National Theatre has received a lot of media attention and hype from audiences. We are thrilled to be screening a performance as greatly anticipated as this at the Bacon.”
