ON SATURDAY, September 5, Gloucester Cathedral will be filling the Cathedral grounds with song as the 2015 Rugby World Cup Ball passes through on route to Kingsholm Stadium.

With excitement building ahead of the Rugby World Cup’s arrival in Gloucester, the Cathedral is inviting everyone to come along and join the Cathedral choirs for this special occasion, regardless of singing ability.

The event will begin with a Cryptian Scholar reading the “Invictus” poem in front of St Mary De Crypt Church at 3pm, before the RWC ball will begin its journey to the stadium accompanied by the Military Wives Choir, the Ukulele Band and other entertainers.

Entering the Cathedral grounds it will be met by the Cathedral Choir and the Cathedral Youth Choir singing “World in Union.”

The RWC ball will be kicked over a set of Rugby Posts for Councillor Paul James to catch before running it to the stadium for the kick-off of the pre-world cup friendly game between Japan and Georgia.

As the RWC ball leaves the stadium the choirs will sing a rousing rendition of “Jerusalem.”

Organisers are hoping to make this the biggest outdoor choir Gloucester has ever seen.
