CHOIRS from Gloucestershire, Somerset and Worcestershire, including Cirencester Male Voice Choir, gathered at Dursley Social Club for a major rehearsal of the works that will be performed at the Colston Hall, Bristol on September 12.

This event is the West of England Festival of Male Choirs and the massed choirs will total over three hundred voices.

Eight choirs will feature and each musical director will conduct them in turn for various items.

The acclaimed tenor Wynne Evans will be the guest soloist, backed by the massed voices in such classics as Nessun Dorma and Anthem from Chess.

He is ‘the voice of Go Compare’ and has sung with all the major opera houses and orchestras, including Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Welsh National Opera and English National Opera.

The programme has been designed to appeal to a wide audience and includes classical favourites, from solemn to soul.

Cirencester Male Voice Choir will be joined by choirs from Dursley, Cheddar, Churchdown, Bristol, Gloucestershire Police, the Forest of Dean and Worcester.

There is a possibility that a coach to the Colston Hall will be arranged for Cirencester MVC supporters thanks to the support of Earl Bathurst and tickets are available for £25 to include fare and concert tickets.

This show promises to be an excellent evening’s entertainment and is being held in support of The Prince’s Trust.

Many of the young people the trust helps are in or leaving care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems, or have been in trouble with the law. The programmes give young people the practical and financial support they need to stabilise their lives.
