THE stage is set for what is shaping up to be the biggest Phoenix Festival yet in Cirencester’s Abbey Grounds this weekend.

Now in its third year, the festival has positioned itself as one of the premier free events of the year in the area and is the perfect way to round off summer.

Run entirely by a dedicated collection of volunteers, the festival will host more than 30 artists on two stages this Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30.

There will also be an open mic tent, a performers’ arena, kids patch, stalls and of course festival food and drink.

The festival is the brainchild of Ozone, a local youth club, and would not exist without the youth of Cirencester and a variety of grants and sponsorship from the local community.

Artists performing include The Abstracts, Basement Blues Collective, Drogo, Abducted, George Montague, Ethemia, Ultimate Beatles, Cantaloop, Kaos, Frankly Skankly and Profound Poets.

  • The Phoenix Festival is on August 29 and 30 at Cirencester’s Abbey Grounds. Gates are open at 11am to 10pm. The festival is free.
