BERKELEY Castle is celebrating the bond between grandparents and children this summer, with the announcement that every Monday in the summer holidays (July 6 - August 31) will be "Grandparents Day", with free entry for one grandchild when accompanied by a paying grandparent.

There will be also be tea or coffee awaiting grandparents in Berkeley Castle's Yurt Tea Room, free with each child's drink or ice cream purchased on Grandparents' days.

The special days and offers have been introduced by Berkeley Castle in recognition of the number of grandparents now offering regular childcare during school holidays.

Charles Berkeley, who heads up the Berkeley Castle team, said: “A visit to Berkeley Castle has long been an experience loved by young and older people alike and in recent years we have seen a growing number of grandparents visiting with their younger generation.

“As a family ourselves, seeing people building happy family memories in our beautiful and educational location is something we are very keen to encourage.”

School holiday activities commence on Sunday, July 19. Every Monday of the holidays storyteller Cassandra Wye and her puppets will be entertaining with stories and puppetry.

Tuesdays will see much fooling around with The Fool Monty Jester and on Wednesdays experienced archers will be on hand to help young visitors try their hand at the skill.

There will also be medieval falconry displays and sword fighting experts during the school holidays.
