THE Phoenix Festival in Cirencester is all set to offer its audience a diverse musical menu of hip hop, dance and rock.

A mix of artists are gearing up to perform over this two-day free festival in the Abbey Grounds, Cirencester on August 29 and 30 with a lineup to include, the funky four piece, Cantaloop and the fab four tribute band, the Ultimate Beatles.

On Saturday Cantaloop, who have performed across Europe and at well-known festivals, such as Glastonbury and the Montreaux Jazz Festival, will headline. They said: “We will be playing our funk and soul with a hip hop smile to get you grooving. Being asked to play at the Cirencester Phoenix Festival has really put a smile on our faces.

“We've played a lot of festivals over the years, but we had one of our best ever gigs the last time we played a festival here. We reckon most of the kids that were there will be bringing their kids because it has been a long while but the funk is back.”

A rock slot will be filled by Kaos, a Cirencester band that has reformed over the last 12 months and will hit the Phoenix with a “comeback gig” of originals and covers.

On Sunday the Ultimate Beatles are set to headline. Known as the ultimate tribute band to the fab four, the Ultimate Beatles promise to take the audience on a magical musical tour to be remembered.

Also, back by huge demand, the duo SneakZ and IC of the Profound Poets will be performing with their positive vibe and hip hop beats and well-known local band, The Abstracts, will finish up party style with an eclectic set of popular covers.

Glen Moreman, festival organiser said: “We’re so happy to have such a brilliant line up and with so many other fantastic artists applying to perform on the Festival’s two stages, plus an open mic platform, an arena, family activities, crafts, gifts, festival food and drink.

“We are very excited that this will be the summer event you’ve all been waiting for.”
